Kevin Collins passed away July 6, 2005 after a 2- year battle with Glioblastoma Multiform (GBM) brain cancer. He was only 41 years old. He endured many obstacles throughout his battle, yet his determination was second to none. "Kevin fought cancer the way he lived life, courageous, determined, and selfless. Kevin gave his soul to family, friends, and community. The world is a better place because of our experiences with Kevin". Kevin was diagnosed with brain cancer on June 1, 2003. He had his first Craniotomy at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.
The next two years were followed by Radiation, Stereo tactic Radio surgery, Chemo, Gliadel Wafers and two more Craniotomies. Kevin did much of his treatment at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. Kevin was incredible in his fight, as one time he flew from New York to North Carolina, had his check up at Duke. Then he flew from North Carolina to Florida for his nephew's graduation and flew from Florida to Canada to go fishing with his brothers. Kevin did this all in a matter of a weekend. This is some of the spirit and determination Kevin had. Thank you for your support. Carol Kevin's Hope (Having Only Positive Energy) Team Member

, on Aug 16, 2007 13:40 Carol, I am sorry for your loss, yet thankful that we can come together to raise funds to assist in the fight against cancer. Congratulations to you for battling this disease TWICE and winning. You are a true testament to overcoming. I share your concern for the cause, as my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at a very early age, 39. She battled for many years, suffering through numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, blood transfusions, hospitalizations, and feeling lousy during the seven year battle. In 1999, at age 46, two days before her 47th birthday, cancer took her last breath. The cause is near and dear to me, and I am pleased to be on Team Kevin's Hope. If you are reading this BLOG, and you have lost a family member or friend, you understand how important this event is to us. We press on, to aid those who are fighting cancer today. With your support, we can do more. Support our event for Kevin's Hope, donate, and join us in August for a day of family fun. Patty O'neal
